The Journey Begins

Title: The Journey Begins
Category: Making History

Description

Bronze Resin

Originally constructed with wings of his own later design, the young Jules Verne appeared clumsy and incapable of flight. I had hoped to capture the earliest moments of the burgeoning imagination which would later, through the mastery of his pen, transport others on his flights of fantasy.
If I couldn't give him the steam to fly to the moon, at least I could give him the knowledge. Verne may well have know of 'Astronomia Nova' a work by Johann Kepler, Published in 1609 in which he calculated the speed and tradjectory required to escape the Earth's gravitational pull. Written early enough to have been known to Verne, these calculations are still used by NASA today. How fortuitous, he put it all in a book

I began again, new armateur, new determination. Chin-up, chest out. I now believe he can do whatever he wants.
By replacing the wings with the book, I provided him with the knowledge to make his dreams a reality.
